Orchestra and wind ensemble conductor based out Haliburton, ON, CA. Currently music director of the Highlands Chamber Orchestra, and co-director of the Highlands Wind Symphony.

Dan's musical interests truly vary, with favourites in the Baroque concerto grosso, Haydn minuets in a minor key, Berlioz overtures, Liszt symphonic poems, overlooked symphonic composers the likes of Roussel and Taneyev, Shostakovich ballet suites, and movie composers from Korngold to Elfman.

As music director of community orchestras, Dan strives to create a positive and encouraging environment for the musicians. He works with principals to tailor concert programs that contain exciting and engaging music for the audience, while providing challenges to help the ensemble and musicians grow.

When Dan isn't conducting, he's at his day job in computer programming, which he does from home and in Toronto one day a week. He also operates Russell Red Records, a vinyl record and hifi shop in Haliburton village. Finally, he's also on the board of directors for the Haliburton Highlands Arts Centre Foundation. It’s a registered charitable organization with a mission to build a world-class arts centre in Haliburton County.
